Notre Dame, scored a game-high 23 points for Marian Catholic and was named tournament MVP. “This is huge motivation for us for the rest of the season,” Turner said. “We knew Hillcrest would have a huge crowd and we knew it was important to contain their guards and stop them from attacking the basket.”
Hillcrest advanced to the title game for the first time since 2001, when the Hawks finished second to Marian Catholic. Hillcrest hasn’t won its own tournament since 2000.
| Uniquah Hampton and Kristin Marshall both scored 16 points for Hillcrest. Hampton mentioned that “turnovers” put them behind early and the Lady Hawks “will build from this game into the season.” |
