High School Football - Week 2

Rich Central vs. Oak Forest

Senior quarterback Jon Wolfe was dominated on the evening scoring three touchdowns to lead the Bengals with a victory over Rich Central 49-28.

Oak Forest set the table for the feast in the first quarter on an opening turnover. They later scored on a short run by Wolfe, who finished with 116 yards passing and 64 yards rushing. On the very next possession, the Olympians' senior quarterback Deonte Jackson threw an interception to Dylan Braden who returned back for  a touchdown to make it 14-0 Bengals.

The Olympians did get on the board with a 1-yard touchdown run by Darelle Black to make the score 21-6.

The Bengals responded shortly afterwards with 14 unanswered points including another touchdown by Wolfe.

Oak Forest held senior running back Giorgio Bowers to just 64 yards rushing, although he later added a 75-yard and 43-yard touchdown runs against the Bengals' second-team defense.

Hillcrest vs. Homewood-Flossmoor

The Vikings had to play against Hillcrest without the services of highly-recruited lineman John Tribedeau, who broke his leg in practice Thursday and it proved to be a tough contest going down 28-6.

Senior Herb Offord had the team going in the right direction with two scores giving the Hawks the edge at the half with a 21-6 lead. Offord finished the night going 6 for 9 with 78 yards in the air and 28 yards on the ground.  In addition, a short run touchdown was ran by Morgan Weaver.

Hillcrest coach, Ernie Sutton, recognizes that he was go as far as his defense and after the game he said “our defense has been absolutely outstanding. Of course, we weren’t perfect, we gave up that long touchdown, but our guys pretty much shut them down after that.”

NOTE: Tribedeau will be out of action for the next two months.

Number 1 goes down to Number 2
Bears' tight end Greg Olsen surprised the Maine South players with a pre-game speech. Then, before a standing room only crowd the No. 2 Hawks surprised top-rated Wheaton Warrenville South 27-9 Friday night in Park Ridge.
