As the 2013-14 season tips, many team reloaded and are ready for the marathon season.  Here is our short list of teams to keep an eye on....

Bishop McNamara 18-12
The Irish finished just 3-6 in the rugged East Suburban Catholic, but reached the Class 3A supers before losing to Morton. Back are junior Khadaizia Sanders, senior Kyleigh Payne, Kyisha Hunt and junior Corinne O’Connor.

Bloom 22-6
Returnees: Danielle King, Jailyn Lumpkin, Anika Johnson.

Bolingbrook 24-6
New coach Chris Smith has their core player - Aysia Bugg, and picked up Ryaen Johnson from Waubonsie Valley.

Crete-Monee 24-5
All five starters are back Marsha Howard, Ashley Henry, Alexia DuBose, Lindzy Cox and Sarah Humphrey.

Hillcrest 21-6
Only two starters return Tanzania Sherrill and Tierra Sanders, but look out for Shayla Joyner, and Aliah Acker. And of course, never ever discount coach John Maniatis’

Homewood-Flossmoor 18-10
New hire, same conference - Tony Smith joins the Vikings.
Returnees: Jaiveonna Norris and Ashley Johnson, plus newcomers junior Faith Suggs (transfer from Plainfleld East) and Amarah Coleman (transfer from Bolingbrook) join the Vikings. One other to keep an eye on is Kandace Tate.

Joliet Catholic 24-5
Michigan State recruit Jasmine Lumpkin averaged 19 points and 12 rebounds last year. Sophomore guard Nicole Ekhomu added 16 points and three steals per outing. They will be supported by some talented freshmen and challenged by a rugged schedule.

Lincoln-Way East 20-9
Returnees: Kara Krolicki, Dana O’Grady, Claire McMahon.

Marian Catholic 33-1
Last year’s state championship has a new coach, Dan Murray, but returns Ashton Millender (Sr. G), Dajhae Mullins (Sr. G), Kauai Bradley (Jr. F), Teniya Page (Jr. G). Mullins returns from a knee injury.

Marist 24-10
Returnees: Brooke Wyderski, Claire Finn, Dajae Black.

Mother McAuley 22-7
Returnees: Elizabeth Nye, Lauren Carlson, Jasma Williams, Raven Willis, and Molly McGinty.

Rich South 22-6
Returnees: Tierra Webb, Dasia Evans, Tierney Lockett, Sierra Ellis.
