Daniel Gleaves broke through the middle of Simeon's punt protection, blocked the kick and returned it 28 yards for a touchdown. The play gave St. Rita a seven-point halftime lead and the Mustangs cruised to a 35-20 victory at Soldier Field.

Senior quarterback Tommy Mister completed 4 of 10 pass attempts for 111 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He added 10 carries for 44 yards with another touchdown to pace the Mustangs (12-2), who hadn't won 12 games in a season since the 2006 state Class 7A championship year.
"Our coaches did a great job at halftime switching things up and getting the passing game going," Mister said. "Sometimes we come out slow … and we just come out on fire after halftime."

Player of the game: D.J. Miles, St. Rita, 18 carries, 102 yards, 2 TDs.
Senior running back D.J. Miles had 18 carries for 102 yards and two touchdowns, his second cementing the victory.

"I just wanted to go out with a bang for my last game," Miles said. "We just wanted to go out with a win."
