Bolingbrook tops Thornton
Coming off a 41-14 butt-kicking by Lockport, missing three standout players due to injuries, struggling to find some team leadership and faced with chemistry issues, Bolingbrook coach John Ivlow was desperately searching for answers as he prepared for Saturday's game in Harvey.

Martin rushed 33 times for 305 yards and set up two touchdowns with bursts of 71 and 57 yards as Bolingbrook (3-1, 1-1) stormed past Thornton 42-21 in a SouthWest Suburban Blue matchup.

"My eyes lit up when the coach told me I was going to get more carries today," said Martin, a 6-foot, 200-pound senior. "It's good to have the ball in your hands and be able to control the game.

Simeon sends a clear message
Simeon's Horactio Banks proved why he is one of the most exciting players in the Public League, if not the state. With the ball on the Young 31 on a third-and-19, Banks caught a screen pass and appeared to have nowhere to go. A quick juke to his right shook off one defender. A few more cuts and a spin move got rid of a few more. Banks then ran the final 10 yards untouched into the end zone.

By the time he was done running on the afternoon, the "junior" had 216 yards and four touchdowns on 20 carries as he and his teammates finished off the previously undefeated Young 45-0 in Public Illini Red Bird contest.

"We have a good offense and we came to play tonight," Banks said. "We came out tonight still angry about last week's loss to Morgan Park."

The Dolphins had given up six points all season.
