Week 9 in High School Sports

MATTESON - As we get to the final weekend of high school football, many teams have already punched their playoff ticket... but their are a few that must win this weekend.

In addition, the city playoffs got started today lead by favorites, Simeon, Hubbard and Morgan Park.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 21
FOOTBALL

Joliet Catholic 45, Benet 0
Illinois-bound running back Josh Ferguson rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries for Joliet Catholic (8-1, 6-1). Malin Jones also had 10 carries for 131 yards and a touchdown.

PUBLIC LEAGUE PLAYOFFS
Robeson 56, Bogan 18
Michael Solomon rushed 13 times for 114 yards and four touchdowns to lead Robeson (9-0). Damaun Johnson also ran for three touchdowns in the win.

Simeon 48, Brooks 14
The Wolverines' continue their winning ways knocking off Brooks. In fact, they scored on their first six possessions.

BOYS SOCCER
Payton 2, Chicago Academy 1 (OT)
Alex Yeung scored the game-winner for Payton (15-4-2). Jonathan Garcia also had a goal in the win.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Benet d. Neuqua Valley 25-27, 25-17, 25-12
Kaitlyn King notched 33 assist as Benet improved to 28-6 on the season. Jenna Jendryk had a team-high 10 kills in the win.

Lincoln-Way Central d. Homewood-Flossmoor 25-23, 25-21
Amy Bernhard had eight kills and Danielle Dowd added seven kills for Lincoln-Way Central.

Lincoln-Way West d. Thornridge 25-9, 25-2
Lincoln-Way West's Kelly Staack scored on 22 service points in a row.
