Week 7 was full of 'what the heck' moments, ejections and issues.

It took overtime to determine the Chicago - Matteson Widget game, as the Cardinals won 6 - 0 and maintain a commanding lead in the American conference at 6-1.

Several players were ejected this weekend including
Jr. Varsity game between the Markham Patriots - Dixmoor Vikings. In this contest,  Patriots #25, Vikings #2, #4, #8, and #32 were all ejected. Thus the game was stopped with 5:50 left in the 4th quarter. At the time of this writing, Vikings are protesting the ejections. In the next game (Varsity), Markham is protesting the game due to an illegal player on the Vikings squad. No word on the findings at this time.

In another contest cross-town, players were ejected from the Chicago Heights - Country Club Hills PeeWee game.  This game was stopped 4 minutes in the 4th quarter.
NOTE: No number were reported.

Chicago Heights Panthers forfeited their Jr. Varsity game against Country Club Hills due to them NOT having their player cards awarding them their first victory of the season (1-6).

The Varsity contest between Kankakee and Park Forest was completed Wednesday, October 3 due to Madea Nature (darkness). Upon it's completion, it was the Colts on top 14-8 over the Hurricanes. This victory moved them up one notch, over the Hurricanes with 2 more weeks left to play.

And finally, two players from the Cal City Varsity team, #81 and #54, were ejected during their game against Eastside.

In addition to ALL of that, several teams joined the 100 point club Hazel Crest (Widgets), Cal City (Widgets), CC Hills (PeeWees), Kankakee (PeeWees), Eastside (PeeWees), Matteson (PeeWees), Chicago (Jr. Varsity), University Park (Jr. Varsity), South Holland (Varsity), Park Forest (Varsity), and Dixmoor (Varsity). And one team joined the 200 point club and that was University Park (Varsity) squad.

By the way, the PeeWee Cougars are still the stingiest team in the league but they gave up their first points (6) this weekend against Chicago Heights.

Our *game of the week... it was between Hazel Crest (5-1) and Richton Park (6-0)  - Widgets game.

The visiting Hazel Crest Mustangs got on the board first on a botched snap to QB, number 7, as he was able to secure the ball from 3 yards out and take it into the end zone in the first quarter with 1:54 left. Extra point conversion failed making the score 6-0.  Home team Raiders tied the game, 6-6, in the second quarter as they ran a QB keeping for 25 yards.

Mustangs' number 7 wasn't done yet as he took another one to the house, this time from 42 yards out (13-6). But as we have grown to know, the Raiders, especially at home, are not going to roll over and surrender, QB (#7) put the team on his shoulders and ran hard through the Mustangs 'D' from 25 yards out and tied the game at 13 with 2:29 left in regulation.

But the cross-town Mustangs came to Richton Park on a mission - to get a 'W' and 13 seconds later, they took the final lead, and what turned out to be the final score when, who else, good ol' number 7 sprinted down the sidelines from 60 yards out.

Hazel Crest gave Richton Park (widgets) their first loss of the season and they also took over first place (6-1).

Final score Mustangs 19, Raiders 13.

* Week 7 Game of the Week will be available Tuesday, October 2, 2012 after 12pm at AmateurSports365 TV

Our final observation after seven weeks of play is teams that are on top, continue to stay there while there is a pile up of teams moving back-n-forth in both leagues, more specifically speaking in the American League PeeWee and Jr. Varsity levels, as well as Varsity level in the National League.  Continue to play hard EVERYONE... you never know what you can due next week until you play the game...

NOTE: During the month of October, 20% of ALL proceeds will be donated to Breast Cancer Research in my mother (in-law) Dorothy Fitch and sister (in-law) Dawn Williams names.
