I'm certain at midnight a large population of people will tell their first lie of the new year when they say "I'm going to start working out more." I must confess, that's me too – each and every year I start out with great intensions but between January 1st and January 20th something happens.

I understand that physical activity helps you lose weight, and that it may only take 20 to 30 minutes of aerobic activity (i.e., walking, running, swimming anything that gets your heart pumping) three or more times a week, can and should help melt away the extra weight. But man, with my so-called busy day, I just can't carve out that time, especially in the winter.

I just spoke to a trainer, at a local fitness gym, who has designed a simple workout regime for me.  For the most part, he encourage me to start our slow and to spread my workout through the entire day such as 20-25 minutes in the morning, and another 20-25 minutes in the evening (or any combination of morning, afternoon, and evening that will work).  Plus, stay away from fast foods, and do NOT eat after 8pm (or within two hours before going to bed) for one month.  He almost guaranteed that I will see results, as well as just feel better physically, which is half the battle.

So, I'm confessing all of this to you, our Amateur Sports family, I'm going to give it a strong shot as you as my witness. So, if you see me out somewhere, don't joke me, just encourage me to stick to this plan ☺.

NOTE: I plan on getting started February 1, 2009. Wish me luck!!!
