Homewood-Flossmoor 48, Sandburg 10
WONDER TWIN POWER ACTIVATE... form of Devonte & Deante Harley-Hampton!!!

Sandburg had no chance of stopping the fast-pace offense of Homewood-Flossmoor 48-10.

Devonte rushed nine times for 43 yards, and scored on runs of one and 19 yards and his twin brother Deante carried the ball eight times for 113 yards including a 50-yard breakout sprint.

The Vikings scored on seven of its first nine possessions and cruised to a victory Friday night in a SouthWest Suburban Blue mismatch.

This win keeps the H-F perfect (6-0, 4-0) and tied atop the standings with Bolingbrook, which visits Flossmoor next Friday.

“It was very important to not let those guys (Sandburg) get up early,” H-F coach Craig Buzea said. “We got off to a good start, but we still haven’t played our best game yet.”

With its ground attack running at full throttle, the Vikings turned to the air, as quarterback Isaac Cutrara (5-of-7, 187 yards) hooked up with senior Aaron Gooch on a 22-yard touchdown pass to extend the lead to 27-0 at 8:02 of the second quarter.

A nice bright spot on the other side of the ball for Eagles came when Jonathan Milazzo converted a 50 yard field goal. which was the teams first points in the contest. But right on the Vikings next possession, first play, Cutrara hit James Sheehan for an 80-yard scoring pass. The score now was 34-3 with 3:10 to go before half.

But Cutrara wasn’t done. He found Nicholas Atoyebi on a 74-yard bomb just before half to make it 41-3.

“We ran the single-wing and it opened our passing game,” Cutrara said. “It was great. For us to jump out to a lead like we did, we wanted to make a statement.”

In order for Cutrara to have the game he did, the O-line of Randall Allen, Darrion Sole, Mylan Reeves, Desmond Bland and Tyler Griffith provided excellent pass and run blocking.

On the other side of the ball, the Vikings defense, led by Patrick Johnson (two sacks), Reginald Howell (interception) and Devante Heard (sack, fumble recovery), held the Eagles to 201 yards of total offense and forced three turnovers.

MAXPREPS.com GAME OF THE WEEK

Mount Carmel 17, Loyola 24
Channel 26.2 (U-Too)
Two top teams went at it Saturday afternoon, Loyola and Mount Carmel, and Mother Nature came in fast and hard suspending the game until Sunday at noon.

Click here to watch video from the storm.

On day two, it was all Ramblers, as they forced four fourth-quarter turnovers to secure the win, 24-17 over the Caravan.

Right before stoppage of play and the end of the third quarter with 19 seconds left, the Ramblers scored on a short pass from Jack Penn to Joe Joyce. They were about to attempt the PAT and BAM.... lightning and sirens.

Today, they kicked a successful extra point, which was enough for the win.

The Caravan (5-1, 2-1 Catholic Blue) had five fourth-quarter possessions: a three-and-out, interceptions by Mark Dowdle and Andrew Cerney and fumble recoveries by Charlie Pontarelli and Thomas Dreher.

"They outplayed us," coach Frank Lenti said. "We made good adjustments, we had the plays we wanted, but you have to execute. They had better effort and execution. It is what it is. I'm not going to make any excuses."

Penn finished the game 18-for-35, 176 yards, 1 TD; 8 carries, 82 yards, 1 TD, while Matt Domer finished 16 carries, 200 yards, 1 TD.

By the way, all of this happened on homecoming weekend at Loyola, and there was a dance Saturday night.

"No more dance for us," Loyola quarterback Jack Penn share with us once they found out the game would continue on Sunday. "We've still got prom."
