Joliet Catholic 24, Marist 27
Talk about a contest won in the trenches.... Marist RedHawks played "red hot" against East Suburban Catholic Conference rivals Friday night as they snagged a tight, tough victory 27-24, and remain undefeated (5-0, 3-0).

Joliet Catholic had the game under control, even with USC-bound running back Ty Isaac (2 catches, 106 yards, 2 TDs), not touching the ball in the second half, then Sir Ian Woodworth (26-for-40, 253 yards, TD) drove Marist 64 yards and connected with Bryan Polak on a 26-yard touchdown pass with just 27.4 seconds left in regulations.

"We had to stick with it," Woodworth said. "We had the confidence to get it done. We knew it was going to come down to the last minute. They're an awesome team. We kept our composure and got it done."

Isaac caught two touchdown passes from Craig Slowik (9-for-15, 235 yards, 2 TDs) in the first half, but re-aggravated the shoulder injury he suffered opening night and served as a decoy throughout the final 24 minutes.

"It's not as bad as the night it happened, but it's definitely not 100 percent," said Isaac, who rushed for 8 yards on four carries but accounted for 106 yards on his two touchdown catches. "It is something that is going to be throughout the year. I don't have time to let it heal, so I'm going to have to take precautions and deal with it.

Marist's Peter Andreotti finished the game with 22 carries, 150 yards, 2 TDs.

H-F 28, Bolingbrook 45
As we have been saying... what a tough schedule down the stretch for Homewood-Flossmoor as they face "our" number one ranked, Class 8A Bolingbrook Friday night... the final score doesn't give this game justice but in the end the Raiders' top the Vikings 45-28.

The visiting Vikings played tough early but a 19-point close out before halftime (25-7) by Bolingbrook was just too much to overcome including scoring runs from Omar Stover (10 carries, 144 yards, 2 TDs), Bailey and Jaden Huff.

The Vikings did make a run when quarterback Ronald Johnson (9-for-17, 152 yards, 3 TDs) tossed a pass to Patrick Sheehan. This score brought the game to ten points (31-21), but Bailey's third scoring run of the game on the ensuing drive built the lead to 39-21. Bailey finished the game with 22 carries, 158 yards, and 3 TDs

"We really didn't want to come off the field, and the defense did great," Illinois-bound Bolingbrook quarterback Aaron Bailey said after the game. "I love big games like this, and I can't wait to go there." Bailey said.

Bolingbrook's attention now turns to its matchup next week at unbeaten Lincoln-Way East, which handed the Raiders their only loss of 2011.

  Benet 44, Marian Catholic 6
